Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut reported on July 29 the first employee case of Covid-19. The employee had minimal contact with customers at the casino and was part of a “small work group,” the casino said.
According to the Hartford Courant, the casino used contact tracing to track down those employees who had contact with the infected employee. They will be tested and required to self-quarantine for two weeks.
Foxwoods said in a statement: “To our knowledge, this is the first positive team member case at Foxwoods, and we have seen thousands of guests visit us since reopening on June 1. We’re confident in our resort safety protocols and the processes in place to help safeguard our teams and guests.”
Since reopening the casino in June 1, despite criticism by Ned Lamont, it has operated with temperature monitoring, masks for all, social distancing with patrons limited to 25 percent capacity.
Foxwoods’ principal rival, the neighboring Mohegan Sun casino, had reported three employees testing positive, with one being hospitalized.
