B resort to open in phases
Imperial Pacific International Holdings disclosed in a recent filing that it will launch a temporary casino on the island of Saipan sometime before the end of this year. The target opening would take place in the third quarter, according to Reuters.
The company has previously discussed plans to spend as much as $7 billion on a casino resort on the island. The filing states that Imperial Pacific “expects to launch and operate the temporary casino in the third quarter of 2015.
“Construction work for the two town hotels (including the gaming facilities in the Phase 1 town hotel) would commence in the third quarter of 2015 and would fully complete within 16 months.”
In a previous filing, the company said Phase 1 will feature a 50-room hotel, 300 gaming tables and 500 slot machines. The finished resort is slated to include more than 4,200 rooms, 300 villas, 1,600 gaming tables and 3,500 slots.
