Nevada Gaming Regulator Named Lombardo’s Chief of Staff

Nevada Governor-elect Joe Lombardo has announced that Ben Kieckhefer, a former state senator who currently serves on the Nevada Gaming Commission (NGC), will serve as Lombardo’s chief of staff when he takes office come January.

Kieckhefer first took office as a state senator in 2010, before leaving to join the NGC in October 2021—he plans to vacate the position when Lombardo is sworn in.

In a statement, Kieckhefer said that he was “humbled by Governor-elect Lombardo’s trust in me, and I’m excited to have another opportunity to serve Nevada, a state I love so deeply.”

“Under Governor-elect Lombardo, I’m confident that this administration will deliver innovative solutions and historic victories for our great state,” he added.

In addition to his duties with the NGC, Kieckhefer also currently serves as director of client relations for the Reno-based law firm McDonald Carano.

“I know that Ben’s exceptional leadership, unmatched integrity, and extensive legislative experience will be an important part of our success in Carson City,” Lombardo said in a press release.
