SciPlay Appoints New Directors to Expanded Board

Developer and publisher of games for mobile and web platforms SciPlay has appointed three new directors to its board of directors, increasing the size of the board to nine members. The executives bring decades of experience across the technology, gaming and digital entertainment industries.

The company, which has Light & Wonder (formerly Scientific Games Corp.) as its largest shareholder, has named April Henry, Charles “CJ” Prober and Constance “Connie” P. James to its board. The board now consists of nine directors, increased from eight.

Henry brings more than two decades of experience advising global corporations across the technology industry on investments, mergers and acquisitions, and global business development partnerships. A former Wall Street analyst from Morgan Stanley, she is currently the founder and managing partner of strategic consulting firm Hawkeye Digital. Henry is also currently on the board of telecommunications company ATN International, and is the executive vice president of corporate development for Science Inc,, an incubation and venture capital fund.

Meanwhile, Prober has more than two decades of experience in the digital entertainment and gaming industries. From 2008 to 2014, he was a senior executive at leading digital entertainment company Electronic Arts, where he served in various capacities, including head of corporate development and senior vice president of digital publishing.

He joined Electronic Arts via the acquisition of the renowned video game developer BioWare/Pandemic, where he served on the executive leadership team. He left Electronic Arts to join GoPro, Inc., where he served as chief operating officer. The executive currently serves as CEO of Tile, Inc., a mobile app-based smart location company, and acts as board member at Life360, a mobile app-based family safety platform, which acquired Tile in January this year.

Lastly, James is described by SciPlay as a seasoned financial executive with nearly twenty years of gaming experience in financial and operational roles. She is currently executive vice president and chief financial officer of Light & Wonder, Inc, the largest shareholder of SciPlay.

James is described in a press release as one of “the key architects” of Light & Wonder’s strategic transformation “to become the leading cross-platform global game company.” Prior to joining the company, she was a finance executive at global food corporation Cargill, and previously was CFO of global land-based gaming at Aristocrat Leisure Ltd.

“I am excited to welcome a diverse group of proven leaders to SciPlay’s Board,” said Barry Cottle, executive chairman of the board. “SciPlay is operating at the cutting edge of mobile games, and as we work to achieve our potential, having the right mix of perspectives in the boardroom matters.”

The executive further said the three new appointees, and the other board members of the company, will play an essential role in overseeing SciPlay’s strategy “to become a leading diversified global game developer” and to enhance value for shareholders.

Scientific Games unveiled its rebranding earlier this year

“April, CJ and Connie bring decades of leadership experience in relevant industries and important strategic expertise that will enrich the Board’s oversight of the company,” said Josh Wilson, CEO of SciPlay. “I am excited at the prospect of what the management team and our newly refreshed board can achieve together as we continue to execute our strategy.”

Digital games developer and publisher SciPlay currently offers a variety of titles including social casino games, casual games, and hyper-casual games offerings. All are offered and played on multiple platforms, including Apple, Google, Facebook and Amazon.

In addition to developing original titles, the company has access to a library of more than 1,500 real-world slot and table games provided by Scientific Games and its subsidiaries. The gaming giant announced its rebranding to Light & Wonder earlier this year, as it shifts focus toward digital casino gaming after the sale of its lottery and sports betting units.
