Wyoming Casino Does $30 Million Renovation

A Wyoming tribe, the East Shoshone, is doing a $30 renovation of the Shoshone Rose Casino in Fremont County. The tribe is building a hotel and expanding the casino floor.

The Shoshone Rose Casino in Fremont County, Wyoming is in the midst of a million renovation that includes a three-story hotel and expansion of the gaming room.

Shoshone Rose Casino General Manager Bob Pokorney told KCWY TV last week: “We have a small casino now with no hotel, it was pretty clear to us that by adding a hotel we would be able to bring in customers from a little bit outside of our area.”

He said the hotel would enable the casino to attract customers from the Casper, Rock Springs and Salt Lake City markets.

The construction work is creating about $12 million in subcontractors for local businesses. Lander Mayor Del McComie commented, “The construction of the casino to local contractors in Fremont County is very very important to us.”

The project will increase the number of rooms available in an area where hotels are at full capacity during the summer.

The project will showcase Eastern Shoshone culture, employing traditional colors and featuring photos, exhibits and paintings.

The casino upgrade should be ready by mid-August.
