Scientific Games announced the purchase of 27.38 million ordinary shares of NYX Gaming, in a possible counter-move to attempts to William Hill’s attempts to block Scientific Games’ planned acquisition of NYX. Scientific Games claims William Hill is trying to protect its sports betting market by trying to stop the buy. William Hill is awaiting a judge’s decision that would give it enough equity to halt the merger.

Caesars Entertainment introduced some skill-based games, but pulled them from their casino floor after six months. Blaine Graboyes, co-founder and CEO of GameCo, a skill-based gaming developer said that despite the machines being pulled, valuable marketing lessons were learned.

Laguna Misses Eldorado/Isle Deadline

After more than a year of negotiations, the $134.5 million sale of Eldorado Resort's Isle of Capri Casino Hotel Lake Charles to Laguna Development Corporation, a subsidiary of the Pueblo of Laguna, fell through. Laguna failed to acquire the required gaming approvals by the deadline. Eldorado will keep Laguna's $20 million deposit.

Mississippi Lottery May Finally Be Approved

Supporters and opponents of a state lottery presented their opinions at the final meeting of the Mississippi House lottery study committee. Mississippi Gaming and Hospitality Association Director Larry Gregory (l.) said the group would approve a paper system and scratch cards but would strongly oppose video lottery terminals. Mississippi is one of six states without a lottery.

Lithuania Adopts Stricter Gaming Laws

In a unanimous vote, the Lithuanian parliament adopted gaming-law amendments requiring operators to connect to a new electronic control system and install 24-hour digital video recording systems. Minister of Finance Vilius Sapoka (l.) said the amendments will allow "more fair gaming operations, more effective money laundering prevention, transparent and effective accounting and control system."

Cirsa Possibly Seeking IPO, Sale Or Merger

Sources said Spain's largest casino and bingo hall operator Cirsa Gaming Corporation SA is considering an initial public offering, selling a minority stake, a merger or outright sale for a potential $2.3 billion. Baha Mar Debuts Second Hotel

Study: Australian Gamblers at Offshore Sites Are More Likely to Develop Gambling Problems

A recent study has found that more than 25 percent of Australian online gamblers use unlicensed offshore gambling sites, and are more likely to be problem gamblers. The study found that offshore gamblers were significantly more likely to be moderate risk or problem gamblers. It also concludes that the demand for prohibited forms of online gambling will grow as new generations of gamblers prefer to gamble online.

New Jersey CRDA to Pay $5.6 million Towards Trump Plaza Demolition

The authority ruled that the $13.2 million demolition qualified for casino redevelopment funds. One of two hotel towers at the site is scheduled to be demolished.

Detroit Casino Revenue Up 1.7 Percent

According to the Michigan Gaming Control Board, Detroit's three casinos posted a 1.7 percent increase to $112.7 in total revenue for October 2016 compared to October 2016. Year-to-date revenue also grew, by 1.2 percent, to $1.17 billion versus October 2016. Compared to September 2017, October revenue fell 0.9 percent.

Judge Rules Against Comanche Nation

Judge Joe Heaton recently denied the Comanche Nation's request for a preliminary injunction to stop a Chickasaw Nation casino in Terral, Oklahoma, near the Texas border. The Comanches said the $10 million casino would impact its Red River Casino (l.), 50 miles away. The Comanches also want to open a casino near Terral.

NIGC Rules For Ponca Tribe

The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska may pursue a casino in Carter Lake, Iowa, the National Indian Gaming Commission recently ruled. It was the second time the NIGC approved the tribe's right to offer gaming there. At issue was whether a tribal lawyer had earlier agreed the tribe wouldn't offer gaming on the land.

San Manuel Plans $500 Million Upgrade

Pokagons Open South Bend Police Substation

The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians recently opened a tribal police substation near its estimated $400 million Four Winds Casino, now under construction in South Bend, Indiana. Tribal Chairman John P. Warren said, "Opening the tribal police substation in our village is an important step in re-establishing our homeland in Indiana."

Arizona Casino to Expand Hotel

The Pascua Yaqui Tribe has announced plans to build a second hotel—with 150 rooms—to serve its existing Casino del Sol Resort in Arizona. The tribe also plans to increase convention space at its other property, Casino del Sol Resort.

Headline Offends Mississippi Choctaws

A front-page story about the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indian's casino referendum ran in the November 16 Carthaginian under the headline, "Chocs go to polls today." The tribe considers "Choc" a derogatory term. Publisher Waid Parther took responsibility for the headline, calling it "an unintentional and unfortunate mistake."

Judge: Casino Managers Can Keep Jobs

A Northern Arapaho Tribal Court judge ruled Wind River Hotel and Casino Chief Executive Officer and Assistant Manager Andrea Clifford can keep their jobs. The Northern Arapaho Business Council fired them but changed its position. A tribal member asked the court to overturn that decision and also "banish Jim Conrad from our tribal land."

Michigan Lottery Retailers Stealing Winning Tickets

A Detroit Free Press investigation found employees at some Michigan retailers allegedly kept and cashed customers' winning tickets. The report said the Michigan Lottery Bureau has suspended or revoked five retailers' licenses since 2016.As an incentive, the lottery pays retailers a 6 percent commission on ticket sales and 2 percent on redeemed prizes.

Railton Appointed to Head UK Lottery

Former Camelot International CEO Nigel Railton has been appointed UK CEO of the National Lottery by Camelot, which operates the Lottery. His mission will be to reverse the decline in Lottery sales.

Iowa Lottery Extends IGT Contract

Following the end of its current one-year extension with the Iowa Lottery, International Game Technology signed a one-year extension agreement expiring December 31, 2018. UK Reprimands Health Lottery

The UK Advertising Standards Authority has issue a reprimanded to the country’s Health Lottery relating to complaints about a Facebook post the lottery made in January. The post claimed that up to £500 could be won per week with five draws per week “with up to £100K jackpot.” The authority received complaints the post was misleading.

Nigel Eccles, CEO and founder of daily fantasy operator FanDuel, announced he will be leaving the company to pursue other opportunities. Matt King, who served as chief financial officer of FanDuel from 2014-16, will return to the company to replace Eccles as CEO and join the board of directors, the company said.

Crown Resorts Board Names Korsanos, Halton
