In the United States, the Connecticut-based Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority has seen several expansion attempts go down in defeat. Now the gaming arm of the Mohegan tribe has announced plans to build a casino resort in South Korea at the huge international airport at Incheon (l.). But it isn’t the first time the tribe has examined expansion opportunities in Asia.

No Smoking Allowed In Harrah's New Orleans

Harrah's New Orleans put out the no smoking signs at midnight, April 22, when the city's smoking ban began. Bars, hotels, workplaces, private clubs, stores and other public places are affected. Earlier Harrah's and other businesses filed a lawsuit to stop the ban, which a judge denied. However a hearing is set for May 21.

Iowa Approves Move To Land For Isle

Isle of Capri's plans for a $60 million, 82,000 square foot land-based casino in Bettendorf, Iowa recently were approved by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission. Construction will start early next month on the 35,000 square foot casino to be built between two existing hotel towers, with an anticipated opening in summer 2016.

Fort Sill Apaches Seek High Court Reversal

The Fort Sill Apache recently asked the New Mexico Supreme Court to reverse its ruling that Governor Susana Martinez is not required to sign a compact with the tribe. Martinez claims the tribe said it would not build a casino on trust land near Deming, but tribal officials said she's got it all wrong.

Virginia Tribe Awaiting Federal Recognition
